1: I am traveling via American from HPN to PHX via ORD. I will be arriving into Terminal 3 and departing from Terminal 3 at Chicago O'Hare. Does anyone know if I need to go through the security check again? I have an implanted medical device, and don't want the hassle of being hand frisked again at O'Hare.
2: Do I have to claim my baggage and recheck it again?

As long as you don't leave the terminal area, no you don't have to go through security again. You wil see the security checkpoints. Just don't go beyond those. Hang out for a while, have lunch, have a drink, whatever.
as for your baggage, since you're most likely on a connecting flight, you don't have to get your bags. They will be transferred to the connecting flight with you.

As long as you don't leave the terminal, you shouldn't have togo through again. As for your luggage, I'd ask when you get to the airport to check in. It seems kind of inconsistent where sometimes bags get checked through and sometimes, they expect you to pick your stuff up and recheck it. Of course, if they did make you recheck your bags, you probably would have to go through security again.

No you don't!! You'll be fine. Your baggage is checked straight through.
