If so, does the transaction take longer time to process?
(this is the default category that was set by yahoo, and I don't see any other applicable category. So I post the question here. Thank you in advance for your answer).

It depends. If it's a Visa or Mastercard debit/check card, most places that accept either one will accept a debit card. If it doesn't have the Visa or Mastercard logo on it, you have to check what sort of payment is accepted.
PayPay accepts Visa and Mastercard debit/check cards because that's what I use. It takes the same amount of time as a regular credit card to process.

Is it likely to be enforced instead of swipe and sign?

It is my understanding that Australia processes credit and debit cards the same as the rest of the world.

Swiping your card and signing the reciept only applies to credit card transactions and debit cards that are run as a credit transaction.

Entering a PIN number is only used for debit transactions.

Chip solutions such as smart cards are just another way of swiping the card. It is not something that will be enforced as there are too many customers that don't have a credit card with a chip built in.

I have been trying since Friday to place an order, but it keeps coming back saying Your credit card was not processed. I called my bank and they say there is no problem with the credit card. I also tried my debit card, and I get the same result.

In the U.S. your debit card has to have a Visa and/or MasterCard logo. Also In the U.S. and some countries. Some merchants require you to have Address Verification. This is to help with fraud. So you need to check your address that you use with Yahoo and the address that the bank put on your debit card. To see if it is the same. Yahoo may require C V V. That is the 3 digits on the back of your card.

You might also want to delete your cache, then re-sign into yahoo. Sometime browsers could cause the problem.
